The city itself was founded by Mani’ ibn Rabi’a al-Muradi, a relative of the owner of Hajar al-Yamamah. The institution started in the famous Qusaiba district and then expanded to become the city consisting of several districts.

The first city is a meeting point for pilgrims and caravans passing through the kingdom, and is most distinguished by the old mud houses that exude the scent of history.

UNESCO declared the city a heritage area and a monument in 2010 as it is the best and most famous heritage site in the whole kingdom and so far it is under development including many charms.

Diriyah suffered in the past, which led to the end of the first Saudi Arabia, and during the second kingdom, it was mostly seen as historical cities that had to be rebuilt, done to gain the new state of Najd.

At-Turaif District

It is the place with the richest heritage in the city and there are many distinctive museums, and you can visit the houses built in the old way there to learn about the life of the Saudis in the past, and how they lived.

The neighborhood contains many castles and distinctive buildings that date back to the eras of the First Kingdom in 1727 AD, including the administrative buildings of the state, as well as Salwa Palace, Nasser bin Saud Palace, Saad bin Saud Palace, Hospitality Palace and Turaif Bath.

Diriyah Park

It is one of the best parks that consists of a group of lakes scattered on the outskirts of the field, and there have spread modern stores that are characterized by a new architectural character, and there are many shows and events that also attract visitors to the place, especially tourists.

Samhan neighborhood

It houses a group of 36 mud buildings, which tourists flock to get the best view of the ancient architecture.

Ghusaiba neighborhood

One of the first neighborhoods that emerged in the old Diriyah, and also played an excellent role in protecting the pilgrimage and trade convoys in the past, and is considered the largest neighborhoods of the old city.

The area includes a large group of old towers, including the Faisal Tower, the Qamariya Tower, the Al Mughaisibi Towers, the Dhahirah Mosque and the Shadid Louh Tower.

Salwa Palace

This palace was built by Prince Abdul Aziz bin Muhammad bin Saud, and the palace was named by that name because of the area to which it belongs and bears the same name.

It is considered one of the distinguished artistic architecture in the region and is visited by many tourists, especially to take pictures with it, as it was designed according to the Najdi architectural system, and was surrounded by a large wall and a number of high towers that were working in the past to protect the city.

Al Bujairi District

One of the areas of picturesque and attractive nature, it is located in the north of the city, and what distinguishes it most is the architectural design there, which is the first thing that attracts the visitor to explore it.

The neighborhood is built on about 60,000 square meters, and the monuments in it date back to the establishment of the Kingdom, in addition to an area full of landscapes and greenery that receives families all the time, and provides many recreational services for visitors as well.

Wadi Hanifa

One of the best places in the old city of Diriyah, which has a charming view of Diriyah, Al Uyna and Arqah, and you can enjoy an unparalleled picnic in its parks, and watch the season of bird migration from there in addition to the green corridor that invades the valley.

Diriyah Museum

If you visit this museum, you will not miss seeing the famous Salwa Palace, in addition to the artifacts in the place, drawings and inscriptions that tell the story of Saudi heritage and history for visitors.

Imam Muhammad bin Saud Mosque

It is one of the most important places in Al-Turaif neighborhood, and the place is not limited to the mosque only, but it is a complex that includes the mosque and a square that is a place for the imam and the muezzin, in addition to the great garden that displays the best plants that were taken from all the kingdom.
More than two thousand people can pray inside the mosque, as well as the courtyard that can accommodate 700 worshipers.
